Can any vehicle be shipped into Canada?

No, the Canadian government monitors all vehicles and has rules and regulations established on what vehicles are admissible or non admissible into Canada by auto transport.

How do I know what vehicle are admissible or inadmissible into Canada from the U.S.?

Check with RIV (Registrar of Imported Vehicles, www.riv.ca) in your province. RIV can assist you on the type of vehicle that is admissible or inadmissible into Canada. The internet has several resources that can offer answers to many questions on what vehicle may or may not enter into Canada. Make sure you complete this process prior to auto moving.

What documents do I need to Ship my vehicle into Canada?

You need the ORIGINAL title, bill of sale, recall letter, registration and a copy of your passport.

What if the vehicle I purchase doesn’t have a title can I still ship my vehicle into Canada?

No, the U.S. Border Customs and Border Protection are very strict when releasing a vehicle into Canada. No ORIGINAL vehicle title means no entry into Canada by vehicle transport.

What does the U.S. Customs have to do with me importing a vehicle into Canada?

If your vehicle is shipping out of the U.S. into Canada, it will cross through one of the U.S. borders to get into Canada. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection works together to protect the United States and Canada from pollution and from car theft.

Can I ship a vehicle if it’s inoperable?

Yes, we at VLP Transport can ship an inoperable vehicle; however there will be an additional fee for all inoperable vehicles. The vehicle must roll and steer, have a working emergency brake, and all tires must be properly inflated. VLP Transport does not transport wrecked vehicles.

How long does it take to transport a vehicle from the U.S. to Canada?

Generally we estimate 10 to 14 days transit time after the pick-up of your vehicle. However, there are several variables like road conditions, weather, and customers’ availability may have a negative impact on the transit time.

How long is my transport quoted cost good for?

The quotes from VLP Transport are based on fuel and demand. The quote that is provided to you is good for seven business days. However, VLP Transport, reserves the right to adjust any and all quotes.

What if the truck can’t get to my location for pick up of my vehicle?

The truck driver will get as close to your door as is safe and legal as possible. Many cities have restrictions on large trucks that prohibit them from driving into some residential areas. Transport truck can be as long as 75 ft. and can weigh up to 78,000 lbs. They are designed low to the ground and need lots of space to maneuver and turn around. If your home is restricted by narrow streets, low-hanging trees, speed bumps or tight turns, the driver may ask you to meet the truck at a different destination or we will arrange a convenient location, like a shopping center or major street crossing, to pick up or deliver your vehicle for auto transport.

What is the cost for car transport from U.S. to Canada?

Prices are determined on vehicle size, mileage and pick-up and delivery location.

Can I put personal items in my car?

No, we at VLP Transport only ship vehicles and recommend that you do not put any personal items in your car prior to Canada auto transport.

Does my vehicle have insurance when in transit?

Yes. All vehicles are insured with the truck’s cargo insurance and are subject to a deductible. But you still need to have personal insurance on the automobile incase there are damages to the car which was not directly caused by VLP Transport.

Can my vehicle be delivered door to door into Canada?

To have your vehicle delivery to your door, you need to have a customs broker to clear all of the paper work and sent to the border crossing with the RIV and GST taxes paid on the vehicle prior to crossing into Canada. We can refer you to a Canada customs broker. There will be an extra fee of $100.00-150.00 (Canadian) for this service.
